Almost didn't go today.... but used a trick I read about in Runner's World... just put on your running clothes and step outside. That's all you need to do to jump start. Eight miles later, and I feel great!

Heaven help me.... my children are driving me insane! Dallin won't keep his clothes on and Justin has climbed onto the kitchen table about 10 billion times.

is a genius! I just cleaned out the coat closet and made it a "toy" closet. Now the boys are happily climbing around in there and being silly, keeping most of my living/dining room clean. Now if I could keep Dallin from closing the door (which makes Justin scream)....

Back from Seattle. Aside from doing a 360 in the ice on the freeway, and Justin puking 3-4 times at my friend's house, it all went well!

painted the boys' closet doors today, and Jon's dad fixed the electrical so we can drywall the bathroom in the basement. This house WILL be complete (eventually)!

Closet Doors -- Before & After

Sometime during the 1970s, someone thought it would be a good idea to "finish" the basement of our 1940s house. So they put in dark built-in closets, dark brown carpet, and dark paneling on the walls. Lovely.


We took out the carpet and paneling, framed in a wall and dry walled, and installed carpet for the boys' new room. We decided to keep the closets because they were in a good spot and they were a great size. So I sanded them and finally painted them a few weeks ago. They're only about 10x better!

We still need to cut a bit off the middle doors-- we had to replace those but they weren't cut small enough. White makes that basement room so much brighter!

Goodbye Carpet - Hello Hardwood!

We've been wanting to pull up the carpet in our living room for a while. We knew there was hardwood underneath, and it looked like it was in good shape. So last night we did it!

Once we pulled it out, which didn't take long, I pulled out each staple with pliers while Jon pulled up all the tack board. That took a while!


But we are so happy the carpet is gone. The hardwood is in great shape.


Notice anything odd about each side of the room?


Yep, there are TWO colors! The room is divided in half. It looks like at some point there was only carpet on one side, and the floor was stained darker on what remained. Kinda weird.

Eventually we will be refinishing it by sanding it, staining it all one color, and varnishing. Meanwhile it's in great shape!

Harmonica

Justin got a harmonica in his stocking and loves to play it!
