Exactly

"Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defenses, you build up a whole suit of armor, so that nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life...You give them a piece of you. They didn't ask for it. They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you, and then your life isn't your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so simple a phrase like 'maybe we should just be friends' turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It's a soul-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. I hate love." - Neil Gaiman

I need more blog ideas. Help?

Costumes, exposed.

Ok, my dear friend Matt suggested that I explain our Halloween costumes because someone will "get the wrong idea". Although I'm unsure of what "wrong idea" they'll get, I'm going to explain the awesomeness that was Halloween '08.

One of my favorite movies (thanks, Sam) is Howl's Moving Castle. It's also a brilliant book by Dianna Wynne Jones that I (mostly) read back in 2007 at Marne's urging. I loved the character of Calcifer and she liked the main character Sophie so much that we decided to recreate the film versions for our ward's Halloween party. It was a seriously fun time. There were only three people there that knew who (or what) I was, so I just went around telling everyone that I was fire and Marne was an old lady.

And that is the background to our awesome Halloween costumes. Thanks, Matt, for reminding me of the most fun nights I've had in Provo. You're a peach. (And I hope to see you someday soon.)

Favorite Friends, Part III

Marne is in the middle.

This is Marne. She is another one of my favorite friends. We've known each other since the summer of 2006. She's an amazing woman. She is caring, honest, talented, and fun. One of my favorite things to do with Marne is to go to the movies with her. She always has great commentary and says exactly what is on her mind. I always trust Marne's opinion when it comes to movies. I wish I could have seen her when I visited Provo two weekends ago, but I know we'll see each other someday soon.

Favorite Friends, Part II

This is Nikki. She is one of the most amazing women I've ever met. She recently was called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Warsaw Poland. She is from a military family and she has lived everywhere from Nebraska to Turkey. Nikki is a wonderful person and probably one of my top three roommates of all time, not to mention one of my best friends. She is kind to everyone she meets, is super smart, and seems to always say the right thing at the right time. On top of all of this, Nikki got up with me at 4 am on Monday to bring me to the airport and then had to work at 7:30. She sacrificed a lot of sleep to make sure I made it safely to the airport and I appreciate it immensely. It wasn't the first time she sacrificed sleep for me and the airport. And I'm grateful.

Nikki, I love you. You are my hero. Poland is lucky to have you!

Favorite Friends, Part I

(I'm such a good friend to post this picture on my blog. Heh.)

This is Kevin. He's amazing. In fact, I spent more time with Kevo last weekend than just about anyone else. It was awesome! We wii'd, we legally shared music that is supposed to be shared (and thus not morally wrong, kids), we took embarrassing pictures of ourselves and our friends, played Mafia, planned hilarious love notes, fell asleep during firesides (wait, was that just me?), talked a lot, and just had fun.

Thanks for being such a good friend, Kev. You are wicked awesome!

PV: Part Two

Here are some more pictures from the trip. :)

Kevin, Casey, Nikki, Megan, and I decided to have a photo shoot on Saturday night...because we could. Kris came over a bit later and the fun continued. I wish I had taken some good pictures of Kris to share. *cough* ;)

The following are from Vashti and Steve's wedding reception.

Here are Steve and Vashti coming out of the temple. It was raining cats and dogs on Saturday but it was still beautiful. I love these guys. :)

The following is Me, Jessie, Chrissy, and Truly. We hadn't been together since 2003. I was so glad for a little reunion. Also, we ate at Red Iguana in Salt Lake and it was delectable. Jessie's husband Colin is the manager here. It was delightful. Mmm. I hope I can go back there again some day. :)

There's more coming soon. I have plenty more to write about. :)

I'm in Provo right now and I'm having a great time! Here are some pictures that I took today. Enjoy! The first few are from the Rockband party that was last night. Then a picture of Megan and Me and picture of my beloved mountains. :D
