Last, But Not Least...

Happy Birthday to ME!! I turned 23 on Saturday! Being the lucky gal that I am, marrying such a WONDERFUL man, I didn't just get my birthday, I got a whole birthday week!!! Starting last Sunday, I woke up to an envelope with a typed letter explaining what would happen on day one of my birthday week. On Monday, I got another one, and then so on the whole week. Each letter contained the "Birthday Rules" where I was told not to change a diaper when Jesse was home, put Steve to bed, or do the dishes! Was it ever nice to have a break from diapers and dishes! As if that wasn't enough, through out the week I received a foot massage, a full body massage, painted toenails, breakfast AND dinner, a birthday party, and a list of things Jesse would do for me. This list included things like, paint the kitchen, get a hair cut by someone other than me (yay!!), and you get the picture! I have to say it was the BEST birthday EVER!! Thanks to my sweet sweet hubby! I love you!

Jesse cooked me chicken roll-ups for dinner...yum yum! They tasted even better since I didn't have to make them! (Jesse thought they weren't as good since he had to make them!!)

The paint job...that I LOVE!!! We (mostly Jesse) painted the kitchen and this wall with the mirror. Part of the birthday gift was that I got to pick the colors with no complaints from Jesse! We both love the result!

I wanted my favorite cake on my actual birthday, so volunteered to make it myself-flourless chocolate cake with rasberry topping. Since there were a bunch of kids at my birthday get together, I also made a yellow cake with chocolate frosting and cupcakes. Yum Yum! Jesse took over the rest of dinner, grilling hamburgers and hot dogs! good work hun!

Ali wanted to help blow out the candles! Make a wish!

The boys were the first to grab the candles and lick off the frosting! Yumm!

After dinner and cake, the kids and dads escaped outside...Steve had the funniest look on his face!

The girls! (and babies!)

Thanks to everyone who came to help celebrate my day! It was so fun! Can't wait til the next birthday!

Second April Birthday...

Happy Birthday to Ali! Our neice Ali turned 2 this past week and we got to go to a care bear party! Ali is too cute and just so much fun! Here's some pics from her big day! We love you Ali!

Baby Shower (A Bit Late!)

So I realized the other day that I had not posted pictures from the baby shower I threw for my good friend Angeline. Since she's already had the kid, I figured I'd better get on it! Anyway, in March I had a baby shower for my wonderful friend Angeline, and it was tons of fun! I decided to step away from the "normal" shower food and we had a waffle bar! Homemade waffles with every topping imaginable! YUM! We had quite the turn out, and an overall successful and fun evening. Congrats to Ang who had Matthew Talbot, Jr. April 12! We just know Steve and Tal will be best buds! Heres a couple pics from the night.

Ang opening a gift...she raked it in!

The First of Many April Birthdays

Monday was Jesse's mom's birthday. Her birthday is the first of 3 April birthdays in 1 week amongst the Broadbent's here in MO! Lucky for all of us, we were born just after tax season, so there's no excuse to get shafted! Miriam came down for the day and she and Cammie and I took mom out to lunch to celebrate. We ate at the Basket Case, which has quite tasty chicken salad croissants (which we all got!). It was a nice afternoon! Happy Birthday Mom! Up next is little Ali (today) who is turning 2! Cammie is having a Care Bear party for her tonight! No doubt, it will be adorable!

Here's the crazy group!

So Cute!!! Hugging cousins...Steve's not quite sure what's going on!

Life

Lately I have been going about my day without "background noise." I haven't had the TV on, just to have it on, or had much music playing or anything like that. I have noticed in the past several days of this, that I have much more time to think. Since I am a woman, and I tend to have "horomonal moments" every now and then, all this extra time to think put my brain on overload I think! For the first time since having Steve, I started having a small pity party for myself here and there, feeling down about stupid, and overall, unimportant things. For some reason, last night it all piled up in my brain at once and I was feeling very down. Since there wasn't really just one big reason, just a lot of little ones, I knew it would all go away eventually and I'd be back to "normal." Well, as we were getting ready to go to bed last night, my sweet, sweet husband noticed my down-ness and very sweetly asked if I was ok. I shrugged it off. He then very sweetly asked if I was sad. So, I told him that I was just having a weird few days but I'd be fine. And being the man that he is, he promptly told me to take some vitimin B, and all would be solved. Ha! Men have solutions for everything! I had just read a very interesting article earlier yesterday about good communication in a marriage and decided I better tell him right then, that a solution was not what I really wanted to hear. After I explained myself, and as we were laying in bed, me still feeling down, and Jesse trying (again) to figure me out, I decided to try and tell him exactly how I was feeling. It basically boiled down to having a few not so great, but not so bad days where I just wasn't feeling all that great about some things about me. Jesse patiently listened to what I am sure was a random assortment of thoughts that probably didn't make much sense, and then responded. His response is the whole reason I even post this long story. He proceeded to tell me exactly what I needed, and wanted to hear. He told me the way HE saw me, and in more than one sentence! He continued until he could tell I was going to be ok. I love my husband! He doesn't always say exactly what I want or need to hear, but when he does, he hits it out of the park! Last night I was able to see a glimpse of what our Heavenly Father sees in each of us, and it was through my wonderful husband. And thanks to him, I felt 100 times better. I am so glad I have such a loving husband! He never ceases to amaze me, and he never stops trying to say exactly what I want and need to hear! I love you Jesse! I just had to let everyone else know how wonderful you are too! Thanks babe!

Chubbier by the day!

Our little chubsicle loves his daddy. You can't see Jesse in this picture, but here are my two men watching tv. Steve turned to look at me and I just had to get this on camera! Jesse has informed me that he doesn't just love the striped pjs...he calls Steve the hamburgler! I think he's the cutest hamburgler ever!

Mmmm...Tastey

Steve gets so excited anytime he sees one of us lift up a glass to take a drink. I let him try to take a sip once, and it was all over from then! If he sees me holding a glass, his eyes never leave it, even if I put it down. And when I'm holding it, he goes crazy trying to get at it! I swear, he's only 5 months!! Of course, he hasn't quite mastered what a sip is, he mostly just sticks his tongue all over the top of the glass, and slobbers over the whole thing, and then if he does get some water he usually starts sputtering and coughing! It really is quite cute...don't worry, I'm not drowning my baby! But, but the end of this little video shoot, Steve was soaking wet! Here's a little clip to give you a taste of how excited he gets...he kicks and moves a lot more when I'm holding him, but his little Bumbo chair kind of prevented any major movement!

Ode to Running

My sister, Shaina, is a huge runner. She ran all through Junior High and High School and then ran track and cross country in college. So, for Christmas her and her husband (also a runner) gave Stevie a t-shirt that is all about running...it says "Pre Lives in Me." Now, for those of you who are like me, what or who the heck is Pre you may ask! At least I did!! Well, Steve Prefontaine (nicknamed Pre) was a long distance runner and apparantly one of the greatest. So, Shaina and Jeff thought it was too fitting to give little Steve a shirt to inspire future running! My family is all about encouraging their favorite sport! Steve also got a basketball rattle! Guess we'll see where his heart ends up! Anyway, here's Steve in his cute little "running" outfit...he finally fits the shirt! Too cute!

J-U-M-P!

I decided to finally be patient enough to wait for a video to upload so that you could all see Steve's new favorite thing to do. I actually had a better video, but couldn't figure out how to make it vertical instead of horizontal...but this one is still way cute! Steve learned very quickly the point of this Johny Jump Up! He can get going too! Enjoy!

Hubby Tag...Finally!

So I was tagged by Angeline AND Cammie...so I guess I better get on this!

My hubby Jesse:

1.How long have you been together? Married 3 years this July!

2. How long did you date? Dated 4 months, engaged 6 months. It was forever in Mormon time!

3. How old is he? 30

4. Who eats more? Jesse. Let's just put it this way, I cook enough to feed a family of 4, and I eat enough for 1 person, we have a 5 month old, and we only usually have a tiny bit of leftovers!

5. Who said "I love you" first? Jesse did...but I knew it was coming! It was so sweet, he whispered it to me after wooing me with his guitar! I melted, who wouldnt! ;)

6. Who is taller? Jesse, but he's short in my family!

7. Who is smarter? Jesse, but I can hold my own!

8. Who does the laundry? Me...that's "my territory"!

9. Who does the dishes? Most of the time me, but Jesse won't let me forget that he did the dishes the whole first 3 months of my pregnancy when I couldn't get out of bed. Thanks babe!

10. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Looking at the bed, Jesse.

11. Who pays the bills? Jesse...the accountant in him takes over! I'm very grateful!

12. Who mows the lawn? Definitely Jesse...as Cammie said, it's way too often here! Although, as of right now, we have more mud than grass! Go MO!

13. Who cooks dinner? ME ME ME! I love to cook...the kitchen is definitely "MY territory"!! I think Jesse can cook a piece of toast, but I even wonder about that! (sorry hun!)

14. Who is more stubborn? Jesse takes the cake on this one! I blame it on living the bachelor life too long before we met! It's ok though, because I definitely have my moments-Valentine's Day, 2006 is a day we, to this day, won't budge about! Either one of us!

15. Who kissed who first? Jesse kissed me...it was priceless! He, of course, swears I tell it all wrong, but he knows I'm right! He knows he missed and got my cheek first! He walked me to the door, and I went in for a hug, he went in for a smooch, and we ended up with this half hug, half kiss landing on my cheek instead! But, he quickly corrected and hit the target! I couldn't stop smiling all night! I guess you could say he melted my heart from the very first date! (yup, he kissed me on the first date! what a stud!)

16. Who asked who out? Jesse asked me to play basketball with him and then when that went well convinced me to go out on a real date with him that night. I couldn't say no! I still have a hard time saying no to him!

17. Who proposed? Jesse, down on one knee and everything! It was so sweet...he re-created our first date, and the night he told me he loved me. Once again, couldn't say no! And I couldn't stop smiling! It was very sweet!

18. Who is more sensitive? I must say, Jesse definitely has a sensitive bone, but I've got 3 times as many!

19. Who has more siblings? Jesse: 2 brothers, 4 sisters.
20. Who wears the pants in the relationship? Jesse does, but I can zip a zipper and button a button here and there! I like to think I've got at least one leg in too! :)

Ok, now that you all know what a wonderful hubby I have...I tag my sister Shaina, and my best friend Tiffany!!

Yumo!

Our little chubsicle has discovered that he can grab the spoon! He LOVES to eat his cereal, especially when I let him chew on the spoon afterwords!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

March 28, 2008
Happy Birthday to Daddy (Jesse)!! Jesse won't want me to say much about his birthday, he's just not as in to birthdays as I am! But, we did celebrate it, and he did say it was his best birthday so far! I started celebrating if for him, hehe, the day before his birthday (Thursday) by surprising him with his favorite Chinese food and his gifts. I got him some "how-to" books on finishing basements. Dreaming about and planning our unfinished basement is his FAVORITE thing to do! Needless to say, the books were a hit. Stevie got him his favorite chocolates and a picture of our family to put in his office. Lets just say Jesse has a plethora of family photos in his office! On his actual birthday, I made Jesse a big breakfast and told him I loved him 30 times! (he turned 30...and will probably hate that I posted that!!) On Saturday we had some friends over, as well as Jesse's parents and grilled out hamburgers. I made his favorite 7 layer dip, and BBQ wings, plus a Jello fluff. He even let us all sing to him over his favorite cake, strawberry jello cake. Happy Birthday sweetie! We love you!

Thanks to these two, I have a husband!
