Beth and Bryan live up in Rexburg and have tried to make it down to our house several times but have been stopped by crappy weather. They finally were able to make it down and so we had to take them to our favorite place near us, Flaming Gorge.

Funny story. I used my trail finders app to find an easy but pretty hike. It took us to this hike to a lake, that was actually a resort lake, so we were definitely not hiking but at least it was pretty. Then we followed trail finders over to a pretty outlook and took a trail back that was only supposed to be a mile... totally wasn't close to almost two. Which normally wouldn't be too bad but I was only 3 weeks post c-section.

Yes that is my son hiking in just socks. Brian loaded them up in the truck, I assumed he wouldn't have loaded him without shoes... wrong! Luckily we had an extra pair of socks so he at least had two layers. He wasn't phased at all though!

Since the hike out took longer than expected, it was dark by the time we found a place to have dinner and a campfire. It was yummy but the kids didn't last long because it was pretty cold and we didn't have their warm jackets and Breydon didn't have shoes!

We were lucky enough to be fairly close to the path of totality of the eclipse. We could have drove 2 hours to be in the path of totality but Brian was working nights and I was getting closer to my due date. My parents actually drove up and went to Rexburg, ID where it was 100% totality. I seriously thought about driving up there but I didn't want to take the kids by myself and risk going into labor or getting stuck in the crazy traffic. So we watched it from the comfort of our own home and luckily my Dad ordered some of those special glasses for my Grandparents. It was a 12 pack, so we took 2. I had totally spaced it and by the time I remembered, all the prices were jacked up.

This is as much as it got covered for us. It was pretty cool to watch and definitely got less bright. Not dark but eerily overcast.

Brian had me wake him up for a few minutes of it. Then he went back to sleep.

The baby enjoyed it too and did not have any complications from watching it... despite what some of the crazy woman on my mother's chat group said. I was kind of hoping he would come that day but nope!

This is the picture that my Dad took up in Rexburg. Pretty cool! The next one, Brian's parent's house is in the 100% totality area so we are going to have to go there for that one!

Our primary was supposed to do an Easter Egg Hunt this year but didn't get it pulled together. I saw an ad for an Easter Egg hunt that the local radio station was putting on. I thought it would be fun for the kids to do a real hunt so we went to it. Holy moly, I think our whole town came out for it! So many kids.

We decided to skip the line waiting for the raffle tickets and head over to the spot where the little kids would be hunting. Adleigh was technically supposed to go to the next spot over for the 4-6 year olds but I wasn't going to let her go alone.

A nice man gave us some candy so Breydon was happy to wait for a little bit.

Yup the pathetic spoils from the hunt. Adleigh got 3 eggs and a little animal. Breydon only got 3 eggs. Some kids didn't even get an egg. The kids were just happy they got something.

After we played in the park for a while which they were really happy about. Needless to say we won't be going to that hunt next year.

I used to take Adleigh to story time all the time in Corsicana but never found out what time it was here in Wyoming. My friend invited us and I decided to start trying to take the kids again.

They get little seats at this library to listen to the stories.

They learned about art in this story time and a local artist came in to teach the kids how to paint. Breydon was definitely a free spirit when it came to painting.

Adleigh listened fairly well and was excited. She loves to paint at home so was happy as a clam to paint more.

Starting to look more like the cupcake, she definitely needed my help but did a pretty good job.

After story time we went out and played in the cool kids area in the library. Definitely a ton better than the kids area in Corsicana.

Breydon is now obsessed with trains after playing with this table.

After I spoiled them a bit more and we went to the park. Sometimes it is just fun to have fun!

With our tax return we decided to get a bike for me that could haul a bike trailer so we could go on family rides. Brian's bike frame is super lightweight so it can't haul a trailer. My 3rd trip out with the trailer I sprung a leak in the tire 2 miles back uphill from our house. The plan was for me and the children to drive down to the river bike path in the SUV and then leave from there. Adleigh convinced me to leave from our house which ended up being the wrong decision. The bike trailer tire was so flat that I had to pull the kids out and make them walk but Breydon didn't want to walk. So I had to walk holding Breydon and the bike, no way we could have made it back up the hill home but totally could have made to where my car should have been parked, dang it. Brian had about 2 hours before he could come save us so I decided to just have the kids play along the river trail.

It was crazy muddy but the kids had a blast. Breydon threw whatever he could find into the water; rocks, sticks, mud, snow.

Clapping your muddy hands is so fun!

Adleigh was either making mud castles or joining Breydon throwing things in the water.

Muddy hands! Luckily her boots were better than the moccasins poor Breydon was wearing.

Happy muddy children! They lasted the whole time without complaining! Luckily I had food and water for them or it probably wouldn't have gone as well.

The town we live in normally only gets 21 inches of snow in the whole winter but not this winter. We got 18 inches in one day and at this point had already had a total of 60 inches of snow that winter. The kids loved all the snow this year.

In the sea of snow. Luckily Brian was home to help me keep up with the shoveling.

All that snow came in less than 12 hours and we still had more coming after I took this picture.

Brian and I were asked by the Bishop of our ward at church to be co-planners of our Christmas Party. So we were responsible for the decor and the entertainment but not the food sadly. Boy was it crazy trying to get it all put together, especially since Brian was working 16 hour night shifts the weeks before so I barely saw him. But we spent the day of at the church getting everything put together. Luckily some nice friends watched my kids for me part of the day that made it much easier to get stuff done.

Then Santa decided to make an appearance! We asked about 9 older men in the ward to be Santa and all said no or backed out later. So Brian got lucky and filled in for Santa.

Breydon had watched Brian changed so he knew that Daddy was Santa and kept cutting back in line to get to him.

Adleigh freaked the moment she saw Santa walk in to the room. Then she started crying and asking for Daddy. Finally after about 15 minutes I told her that Daddy was just pretending to be Santa. Even though she knew it was Daddy, she still wasn't happy about sitting on his lap though.
