Summer Vacation- Day 56 "Movie"

We went to a dollar movie today to see Walking With Dinosaurs.  The kids loved it.  James towards the end of the movie started crawling down the stairs, head first, acting like a dinosaur.  

We got the best seats in the house, Hailey and I could kick our feet and enjoy our popcorn. 

Saturday

Brennan took the boys scouts up to the mountain on Friday night to build igloos so the boys could sleep in them.  The boys apparently had a blast and thought it was the coolest trip ever.  

Brennan said they only had time to build two igloos.  A bunch of boys slept in one, while another dad and his boys slept in another, so Brennan got to sleep in his own tent since leaders sleep separate from the boys.  Brennan was happy because he loves nothing more than to sleep outside in his sleeping bag, breathing in the cool air of Mother Nature. 

While dad spent the day skiing with the Boy Scouts ( some of them skied for the first time), we went to the Lego movie.  It was so cute and the kids forced me to download the song, "Everything is Awesome".  We've heard it a million times now.  

This poor little man took his nap in the car while we ran errands today.  Poor kid is so tired from all the fun we have been having lately.  

Brennan had beaten us home and shared with us some bread that a mother of one of the boys had given to us as a thank you to Brennan for taken her boys on their weekend outing.  I'm always touched when people give me food.  I think that we as Americans take for granted the amount of food that we have and that we often forget that it is one of the few things that keep us a live.  When someone gives me food, I think that this person is helping to keep me alive and it touches me.  Oh, and I totally don't care that I have a double chin in this picture.  I am aware that I have fat and I don't care :) 

Valentine's Day

Valentines day started for us on the 13th because Brennan planned a Boy Scout overnighter for Valentines day.  He claimed he didn't know when else he could do it, with all the traveling he's been doing lately.  He had to get a camping/ skiing trip in before winter is over.  They built igloos and slept in them.

Anyway, so last night Brennan surprised me with some yummy cheese and a chocolate dessert. I never thought I would say this, but I like cheese better than chocolate.  I'm sure I will laugh at myself later for saying that.

I made the kids their own valentines.  I made one for Brennan too, but I'm not going to post that one, mmkay ;)

The kids made a special valentines card for their teachers.

This little cutie got a free popcorn coupon for Popcorn Fridays, for being a "community contributor".  She helped give a lost basket ball back to some kids from across the playground.  She was congratulated for her super helpfulness.

We got to attend Jacob's class valentines party today.

This was cute.  Jacob's teacher brought in her very own play kitchen, so the kids can play with it when ever they get a free chance ( which I don't know when that is).

Some friends dropped off some valentines!  These are cute and I was tempted to make them myself after seeing them on Pinterest.  They're little minions that say, "You're one in a minion."  Addison said "Happy Valentines Day", which is more than I've ever heard her say.

Since its Friday, Hailey and Jacob went up for their ski lessons, which left James and I alone. I decided to take James on a bike ride to the store to rent a movie for us to watch.  It was cold and windy, so I put the cover on the trailer to keep James warm.

My RS president brought me a gift.  I love it!!!  It's a stiletto masking tape dispenser.  It is rockin!

We finished the night with a pizza and the movie, "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2".  

And that's our Valentines Day!  Happy Valentines everyone!  

Wednesday- Random Photos

How can a little boy be smiling like this...

And turn sour just like that?  He is a strong willed one I tell you.  

I tried to get James to watch a cartoon so I could take a quick shower, but it didn't last very long.  Has anyone had a kid who wouldn't watch TV at this age?  Hailey and Jacob would watch as much TV as I would let them, but this one shows no interest. 

While at piano lessons today, we had a kitty visitor who attacked me and then snuggled up to me.  Cats can be so interesting. 

Friday- Stellar Student Award!

Hailey got the Stellar Student Award at school today!  She received a certificate and got to sit with the principal at lunch up on the stage.  Debra in the front office made a big deal about it.  

Hailey has been telling me about the boy who sits right next to her in class.  He just moved here from China and is learning to speak English.  Hailey has been telling me that she helps him learn new words and also helps him underand their assignments in class.  So I was not surprised when I read what her teacher wrote about Hailey and why she deserved the award.  I'm a proud momma that my child makes such good choices.  

We are having another rain/wind storm this weekend and so I started a fire to keep us warm.  

We snuggled up and watched a movie tonight too.  

We went with Grandma Clark today to go visit her new puppy she is getting from a breader here in Seattle.  It's a Schnauzer and is only 2 weeks old.  The kids were in heaven holding the puppies.  I wish I had my phone so I could have taken photos.  Grandma was having a hard time choosing a name for her new dog and since it's a German dog, she wants a German name.  So she asked the kids what name they thought she should name her dog and after a moment, Jacob said very quietly, "How about Holly?".  Grandma was sold.  So that's her new name and we might actually get the dog to stay with us a few days before grandma makes a trip back to Sattle to pick up the dog when it's ready in 6 weeks.  

Summer Vacation- Day 57

Hailey and Jacob thought it would be really funny to dress James up in Jacob's underwear.  

I have to admit, his bum is super cute.  

We went to a dollar movie again.  This time it was Racing Stripes.  We saw a preview for the up and coming Lego Movie.  The kids are super stoked to see that movie and I have to admit that I am too.  It's looks pretty funny.

James felt he needed to explore the theater a bit, so I left the kids in the movie while James and I walked around.  

Summer Vacation- Day 53

I love it when my kids hang out together.  

This was funny.  I told the kids they could watch TV.  They started flipping through the channels to find cartoons and stumbled upon the Price is Right.  They were totally into it!  Hailey kept posing like the ladies in the show and both kids were totally into the people winning prizes.  Hailey was jumping up and down when they announced the grand prizes at the end of the show.  She was so excited for the contestants.  She thought the prizes looked so amazing.  She would yell, "Mom! They could win a car!"  It was so hilarious. 

We went to another Microsoft party today.  This is the third one this year.  Come Christmas, we will have about 4 or 5.  They know how to spend money.  The party was catered, of course, so we had lunch first. 

Then the kids got to enjoy a jumping ride.  Doesn't that look so fun?  I would have done it, but there were so many kids wanting to do it, that I didn't want to steal their fun and make them wait.  We tried to get the kids to do back flips, but they wouldn't ;)

Then we did a rock climbing wall.  I love this picture of Hailey. So cute.  She and Jacob were a little afraid.  

Ok, so I was a little afraid too.  I have never done rock climbing before and it is a lot higher than it looks.  I got up a little past halfway and decided to come down.  I don't like heights.  Plus, I wasn't sure about what would happen if I let go.  I know the ropes are supposed to support you, but when you're up high like that, all reason seems to leave you.  

Like every Microsoft family party, there is always a face painter and these face painters are artists.  Jacob always gets a mustache when he gets his face painted.  He really loves a mustache.

Later that night, we all watched WALL-E.  We put the pillow top from our mattress to good use and laid on it for the movie.  If you didn't know, Brennan ripped the pillow top off our mattress.  We are getting a new one. 

Summer Vacation- Day 29

I felt so bad for James today because he fell out of his crib.  We all woke up this morning to the sound of James hitting the floor.  It looked like he stood up on his bumper and leaned over the side.  Poor boy, I guess I will be removing his bumper.  

Since we were all up early and out of food, we headed to the grocery store.  I gave the kids some donuts and croissants to eat while I shopped around since they hasn't eaten breakfast yet.  Actually, we always seem to do this.  Usually when we go to the store, I pick up a container of small croissants and the kids snack on them while I shop.  It keeps everyone happy.

James loved his donut.  That is a happy face :)

Later we went to a Dollar Movie with some friends.  We saw the movie Rio.  

James dumped a the last of the popcorn all over himself.

                                            

      

We spent some time at our neighbors just playing with their dogs.  They have 3 dogs, but this week they are fostering a 4th.  Jacob is playing with the foster dog.

They are super friendly dogs and the kids really love them.

This picture does not serve this St Bernard justice.  That dog is 140lbs!  His head is larger than mine!  But he is just a sweet puppy, who drools a ton of drool!  We always get slimed on whenever he comes up to say hi.  Today I had globs of it dripping down my leg.  He loves to give James kisses and when he does, his tongue covers half his face.
