Britain leaves the EU

In Declining to Fall, Donna Rachel Edmunds writes,
At 11pm GMT Britain will be leaving the European Union, and the globalists over at the BBC can hardly contain their fury.

So angry are they that they’ve taken it upon themselves to tell British children that there are no “British things,” and that tea, sugar and cotton were all stolen or produced on the back of slavery.

Here’s a non-exhaustive list of things they’ll have to do without in their post-post Brexit woke-topia:

Telescopes, submarines, logarithms, desalination, steam power, seed drills, steam engines, the plough, winnowing machines, electrostatic motors, baseball, drainage, sociology, economics, cast iron, and later, steel, leading to high rise buildings, the adjustable spanner, threshing machines, selective breeding, vaccines, incandescent lightbulbs, railways, haymaking machines, bone china, macadam, Babbage’s difference engine (ie, computers), cement, whisky, reaping machines, electromagnets, spinning jennies, sewing machines, electric generators, bikes, stamps, fertiliser, turbines, passenger liners, fax machines, Boolian algebra, hypodermic syringes, photoelectric cells (ie solar panels), the light switch, universal standard time, modern rock climbing, hydraulic crane, tractors, the internal combustion engine, Christmas cards, anaesthesia, pencils, rubber bands, electroluminescence (LEDs), the fundamentals of aircraft design, blood transfusions, toasters, shorthand, flushing toilets, typewriters, televisions, aspirin, wellies, jet engines, the anglepoise lamp, Keynesian economics, computer programming, DNA, calculators, epilepsy treatments, insulin, collapsible baby buggies, dishwashers, vacuum cleaners, ibuprofen, fire extinguishers, carbon fibre, modern dairy farming, IVF babies, MP3 players, tree shelters, to protect tree seedlings, the internet, graphine, the raspberry pi – ok, I think you get the picture.

In short, over four centuries, give or take, Britain almost single-handedly invented the modern world. If the BBC and its cheerleaders really thinks that’s nothing they are welcome to return to an agrarian society free from the oppressive colonial patriarchal encumbernces of civilisation; although with no tools and no fertiliser at their disposal, they ought to be mindful that the life expectancy is likely to be somewhere around 35, and God help them if the harvest fails.

But if that’s what they really want, they’re welcome to it. As long as they leave the rest of us – and our children – out of it.

Does the Left want the U.S. to go in the same direction as Britain?

CBD writes in Ace of Spades,
Donald Trump is our protection from the multi-generation idiocy that is currently destroying Britain. And we are very lucky to have him, because we are on the same progression as post-war Britain, only a few generations behind. Is there any difference between their importation of much of South Asia, the National Health Service, cradle-to-grave welfare, and a host of other insanities, and what is currently on the forefront of much of the American Left's rhetoric?

"Fail, Britannia"

Oregon Muse writes at Ace of Spades,
"So Great Britain is rapidly turning into a surveillance state that would make old Joe Stalin green with envy. You can actually go to jail there for posting a disparaging comment on Facebook. Monty Python would be in jail for some of their comedy skits. Meanwhile acid attacks are a daily occurrence and law enforcement is doing everything in its power not to notice the rape gangs that have victimized young girls by the thousands. All in the name of not being racist. I keeping waiting for enough Brits to finally say 'enough is enough', and straighten out their priorities but the boiling point never seems to be reached. So it looks like it's going to be 'Fail, Britannia' for the foreseeable future."

Which one has a better handle on reality?

Mark Steyn writes,
Canadians are dead, and so is satire. Six Quebeckers get slaughtered by Islamic terrorists in Burkina Faso, and to honor their memory Prime Minister Justin Trudeau leads a moment of silence ...at a mosque.

Speaking of prime ministers, having spent his entire premiership assuring us that whatever happens in the news headlines is nothing to do with Islam, David Cameron has suddenly discovered a few things that are to do with Islam. The opening paragraph from Mr Cameron's column in the London Times:

Where in the world do you think the following things are happening? School governors' meetings where male governors sit in the meeting room and the women have to sit out of sight in the corridor. Young women only allowed to leave their house in the company of a male relative. Religious councils that openly discriminate against women and prevent them from leaving abusive marriages.

The answer, I'm sorry to say, is Britain.

Ah, right. And who in Britain bears responsibility for letting a parallel self-segregating society incubate and grow these last 20 years?

Mr Cameron has just noticed that 22 per cent of Muslim women in the United Kingdom speak little or no English, despite having lived there for decades. If you're a Muslim female, the moment of silence can last for decades.

So what's Cameron proposing to do about it? Well, that's all a bit more iffy:

Forcing all migrants to learn English and ending gender segregation will show we're serious about creating One Nation.

Fifty years ago, aside from a few querulous Scots, Welsh and Ulster Catholics, you didn't need to "create" One Nation, because you already had one. Anointing the most "gender segregating" culture on earth as your principal source of population growth is why you no longer have "One Nation", and why you're back starting from scratch. Good luck with that.

Mr Cameron has no serious intention of slowing the right of entry of masses of primitive misogynists into Britain, but in an hour or so he and his fellow MPs will be debating whether to ban Donald Trump. Like I said, satire is dead.

As for "gender segregation" in the Muslim world, let's go back to that Peterborough mosque where Justin Trudeau had his moment of silence to dishonor the Canadian dead at Islam's hands. The mosque is run by Imam Shazim Khan, who gave an interesting speech in Toronto a few years back. "Gender segregation"? Bring it on!

There is no need for her to go out. There is no need for her to call anybody. There is no need for her to talk to anybody...

She only makes available herself to her husband and she protects herself and she stays away from everything that her husband doesn't like in order to please him and to make the marriage work...

Incidentally, Trudeau's imam says that, if David Cameron thinks "gender segregation" is bad now, wait till the hereafter:

"The Prophet PBUH said he said because of this ingratitude [of the wives towards their husbands] that is why most inhabitants of hell are women.

Cameron isn't serious about "assimilating" the likes of Imam Khan, and Trudeau kisses his ass.

Speaking of European leaders, most of them would dearly like to impose a moment of silence on Milos Zeman, the President of the Czech Republic. Mr Zeman has a different take on all this:

'The experience of Western European countries which have ghettos and excluded localities shows that the integration of the Muslim community is practically impossible,' Zeman said in a televised interview Sunday.

'Let them have their culture in their countries and not take it to Europe, otherwise it will end up like Cologne,' he added, referring to the mass New Year's Eve assaults on women in Germany and elsewhere.

President Zeman is a leftie, but not a suicidal one.

Two different approaches to dealing with Islamic terrorists

Nick Gutteridge reports at the UK Sunday Express,
Vladimir Putin has ordered a huge crackdown on ISIS jihadis.

The iron-fisted president has called in his feared secret service to round up thousands of jihadis just hours after it emerged that British police are wilfully letting our extremists flee to safe havens abroad.

Moscow has identified more than 2,900 of its citizens suspected of joining ISIS and other radical Islamist groups, and is actively hunting them down both at home and abroad.

In Syria Mr Putin's warplanes and feared Spetsnaz special forces troops are tracking and killing Russian-born jihadis to prevent them from returning home and carrying out terrorist atrocities.

So far they have taken out 198 radicalised jihadis in a matter of months, whilst a further 214 have fled back to Russia where they have been "put under close control" of the security services.

Russia has arrested thousands of ISIS sypathisers

Of the survivors, 80 are already behind bars after being convicted of terrorist offences, whilst a further 41 have been arrested and are awaiting trial.

Meanwhile, the authorities in Moscow are prosecuting more than a thousand ISIS sympathisers, recruiters and financiers in a huge bid to wipe their evil scourge from the country's history books.

A further 100 have had their passports revoked, meaning they cannot travel to Syria and Iraq to fight for the warped terrorists.

On top of those investigators have launched probes into 1,600 private individuals and businesses who they believe may have been involved in the production and dissemination of ISIS propaganda.

Agents have launched a huge crackdown to destroy the terrorists' financing operation in Russia and have completed 5,000 checks on the accounts of suspicious people and companies, leading to 270 prosecutions.

In contrast it emerged yesterday that overwhelmed British security services are allowing our homegrown jihadis to leave freely, deciding it is safer to get them out of the country than keep tabs on them.

Spies are operating a "home and away" policy whereby some extremists who they fear may plot terror attacks against the UK are being allowed to travel abroad and start new lives in safe havens.

A sorry chapter of Britain's history

Sunday is the day for the the must read column by Oregon Muse at Ace of Spades. Today Muse tells us about the practice of colonial Britain shipping off orphans to orphanages in colonial countries such as Australia and Canada,
where they were worked hard, fed little, and made to endure beatings and even sexual abuse, far away from anything they ever knew.

Britain: "If Hamas causes enough trouble, we'll cut off aid to Israel"

Noah Rothman reports that
the British government revealed on Tuesday that they are suffering from a terminal case of moral equivalency and are prepared to cut off military aid to Israel if “significant hostilities” resume in Gaza.

Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, and Skills and Liberal Democrat MP Vince Cable announced this week that the United Kingdom would suspend the export licenses of 12 British firms which send Israel arms like radar systems, aircraft, and tanks if any new hostilities in Gaza restart.

Valuable human resources

"The single payer National Health Service in Britain has been shoving dead babies into incinerators to heat their buildings. This isn't a fluke; this is Socialism. President Obama has been working devilishly hard to bring DMV-style IRS-enforced medical care to here, because we are lagging behind our sophisticated baby-burning cousins over in Europe. Climate change/Planned Parenthood alliance of choice renewable energy sources!"

China wants British pig semen

Joshua Keating writes about an international deal between Britain and China:

Pigs are a big deal for the Chinese economy, with almost 446 million of them—one for every three people and more than the next 43 countries' combined. Fluctuations in global pork prices have drive the country’s exchange rate, and analysts have joked that CPI actually stands for "China Pork Index."

According to the FT, British pigs “grow faster, eat less food and, crucially, reproduce much more quickly than their Chinese counterparts,” so the hope is that superior sperm will help Chinese pork manufacturers keep up demand. This is the second major international Chinese pork deal of the year after Shuanghui International Holding's purchase of Smithfield Foods earlier this year, in the biggest Chinese takeover of a U.S. company ever.
