Ah, the joys of a struggling economy. Here are some pictures of what our back patio now looks like. In order to try to pinch some more pennies, Brian lovingly agreed to hang a small clothes line on our back patio. We've hung our shirts from the rain gutter and pants over the banister since the first summer we moved in, but Sam's hangers were too small for the rain gutter and his clothes blew off the banister. So, this was the solution. It has also become handy for socks and dish rags, as you can see.A few days ago Sam was in the den crawling around and playing while Brian and I were working on something on the computer. He found our headphones and brought them over to me, so I put them on him. He thought it was the funniest thing ever and he would take them off and hand them back to me to put back on him again. He kept doing this over and over again and it became his new favorite game. We finally got out the camera and took some pictures of it.
Sam has also started talking to the TV. When I take a shower in the morning and sometimes when I'm working on dinner in the evening I'll put on his Blues Room or Bear in the Big Blue House DVD (don't worry, I don't let him sit in front of it for hours on end...15 min tops). Lately he has begun talking back to the characters. With the Blues Room DVD in particular, he will only "talk" when Blue asks a question. Example:
Blue: "What kind of snack is it?"
Sam: "Da! DA! HI DA!"
Blue: "It is a carrot. I like carrots. Do you like carrots?"
Sam: "Mum mum mum!"
And so on and so forth. And he only talks to the TV when the characters ask a question. And yesterday we were at a friends house and he pulled out all of their shoes. There was one pair of bright pink shoes and one pair of blue shoes and the paired the pink ones and the blue ones together. All the rest were black, so he didn't bother trying to match them because he couldn't tell a difference. I'm starting to realize that he is a lot smarter than I give him credit for.
