Yarr

I've had quite the busy weekend! Although, when I think about what I did the past two days that made me feel so exhausted, it doesn't seem like I should feel this tired. Friday was my baby shower and afterwards Kate and I decided to go see a movie...yes, we went to 'Hairspray' again. So shameful! Ahhh, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves - it's such a blast to watch.

Saturday I was busy putting together some pirate kits - my parents take a trip to Lake Powell with their friends every year and they asked me to put together the invitations. On Saturday I probably ran about 37 errands before Cache's naptime and then spent the evening up at my parents house putting them together and getting them ready to be delivered. I didn't have much time, but I think they turned out pretty great!

Here is the official invitation. The picture didn't turn out great, but these invites were hilarious. A little touch of pirate jargon can get anybody ready to swab the decks.

These were just some pirate maps that my Mom and I personalized.

The loot! Here is what each pirate's chest looked like. It was full of gold coins and plastic rings, a bandanna, a compass, shells, sand dollars, necklaces, a velvet pouch that held the pirate map and the official invite was on the top. I burned the edges and sealed it with red wax.

Ready to be dropped off! I tied each pirate's chest with 'seaweed', glued on some moss and topped it with a pirate flag. Oh, not to mention everyone got their own bottle of imported Pirate Rum.

I'm really happy with the finished product, but it totally wore me out! Cody worked for 3 days straight and finally came home this morning. He has a rare few days off and I'm SO happy to have him home! We'll be busy with nursery and home project stuff, but as long as he's around I'm good. Tomorrow we are going to a Fire Department dinner and pool party where there is a bathing suit contest for the firefighters - Cody is determined to win it. Don't you worry, I'll be taking pictures...

Baby Shower

Kate hosted the greatest baby shower for me on Friday night! She did so much work and it looked so awesome. There was lots of yummy food (trust me, I ate most of it) and her Mom's house was decorated so cute! Here are a few pictures of the evenings festivities:

What a spread!

My nursery colors are brown and blue, so Kate used both colors to decorate. My friend Crystal set up these chocolate fountains - aren't they great? I was a little skeptical of the blue one, but it looked so cute. Not to mention they were both D. Licious.

These were the favors for the guests. Inside were little fortune cookies that read, "Julia is fortunate to have a friend like you!" Ahhh, Kate - so clever!

Ann and Heather gave me such cute gifts! Here are some little booties with fire engines on them - I love it!

A sailor onesie with matching socks, could you die?? Oh, and I was given a crown that said, "Mother to be"

I also got the cutest little outfit from my friend Joni and some baby essentials from dear Brillig. Thank you so much, girls! It was a lovely evening and it was so nice to see everybody. Three weeks to go, can't wait for the little guy to get here!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Phew! Sorry this is late...at least I have a few more minutes until Wednesday is over!

Round Toe Boots

Mm, Mm, Mm...this are so sassy. I love rich, brown leather round-toe boots. I have been looking for the perfect boot forever...maybe this will be the year!

Showered with giftys

Last night was my friend Heather's baby shower! Ann did a fabulous job of hosting in her new house (which is awesome) and everyone had a blast. It was so fun to see everybody and catch up - not to mention the treats. Ooooh, the treats. For my gift, I decided to sew some onesies for her new little girl - I've never done it before (I don't even sew...first obstacle) but my sister has made some and I have always wanted to try it. She sewed some onesies for her kids and gave me some burp cloths she made for Cache when he was born. Cody showed me how to use the sewing machine on Sunday night (yes, the man can sew like a banshee) and now I'm totally addicted! I made her some onesies and burp cloths. I think they turned out pretty cute, but hopefully with a little more practice I'll get better! Lots of pictures, buckle up...

Here are the burp cloths - they were so easy!

Yellow flower

This was the simplest design but it took the longest...the band goes all the way around

Pink

This was sewn on the back right below the collar

This is probably my favorite one...

Fishies!

...and fishy bum

This one was sort of last minute, but I liked how it turned out

This was the 'Disclaimer Gift'. I bought this cute fleece and pink velvet trim with plans to make a little blanket for the baby, but I didn't have time to finish it. I'm going to finish it this week and get it to Heather stat!

She is naming her daughter Stella, so I glittered a wooden letter for her nursery.

What a fancy gift!

The lovely mom-to-be with her spoils!

The shower really was so fun - we just hung out and talked...I haven't seen some of those girls forever! I had so much fun making all that baby stuff that I went out today and bought some things to make more. Hmmm, so many possibilities!

Summer Evening

Today was a great day - ran some errands, got to relax during Cache's nap, and Cache and I were able to spend some time outside before dinner. The past few days have been cloudy and rainy which has been nice since it's been so hot! Yesterday Cache and I sat on the porch and watched the rain for a while. He's still getting used to hearing thunder, but I think it freaks him out a bit. I bought him this little inflatable pool (just a small step down from the real thing, right?) and I filled it up today. Before we took it outside, Cache called it his 'boat' and wanted to watch a show while sitting in it.

Before dinner I filled it with water and we sat outside and he splashed in it for a while. He hasn't been much of a water baby, so I want him to get used to spending more time in water and hopefully he'll start to like it more! He had a blast...until he slipped a time or two and I think the shock of the chilly hose water made him a bit wary. It was so warm tonight that I actually sat in the little pool for a minute to cool off!

Afterwards I had Cache help me make pizza for dinner. Well...he was supposed to be helping me, but he just kept eating all the cheese that he was supposed to be putting on the pizza.

Dinner was super yummy - here he is enjoying his pizza and some rootbeer. We wrapped up the night watching the epic adventure "Cars" and once that was over, Cache was ready to get into bed.

I'm working on some presents for my friend Heather's baby shower on Monday. She is due one week before me and I can't believe that the baby is almost here! Cody has this weekend off so we'll be working on the nursery and lots of baby stuff while he's home. I can't wait until it's all done!

I decided to copy my friend Whitney and Simpsonize myself...

Now I finally know what I would look like as a cartoon!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

My new watch!

Yes, yes I know. It's very ghetto-fabulous. I bought this watch this weekend whilst on the Girls Trip, I couldn't resist! Especially since it was on sale for about $10.00 - can't beat that! I'm sure this watch will ensure my appearance at a few parties...
