Spring Break at Gettysburg

Gettysburg was sunny and windy.

(Above) Gray took this picture,see his knee. He was so cute getting his brothers to pose on this rock. He was excited telling them, "Look, your as tall as that monument."

Our Spring Break consists of two days making our Easter weekend a 4 day holiday. We drove up to Gettysburg on Friday before Greg left and did some shopping at the outlets there. The boys all got a pair of new shoes. I did alot of window shopping for myself. I think I may go back later by myself. If I leave as soon as the boys get off of school, I could make it there and back before they get home! It's under an hours drive.



Well, Gettysburg was more than shopping. We viewed many monuments and stone dedications for the famous Civil War site. There was so much to see we will have to go again some day when its a bit warmer. There were monuments dedicated to both the north and south states, we just had time to view the north so these pictures are of great leaders like General George G. Meade (he is on the picture below on horseback.) It was good to reflect on this part of our American history and all the sacrifices that many of our service men have given for our freedom. bird watching

With boy scouts and spring in the air the birds are back and we have enjoyed a couple of days taking pictures and identifying them. Sorry some are hard to see but there is a red robin, common flycatcher (we think), vulture, ducks, owls, and red cardinal. We've seen bluebirds, chickadees, seagulls, and quails but just haven't caught them on camera yet; and as you can tell, its not easy getting a close up shot with our camera.

Happy Easter

Well, I've read all your comments. Thanks for the notes of sympathy. March has been better, as far as our health goes. We celebrated a week early since Greg is now on a business trip, left Easter morning. I'm not out to get more sympathy. I know many of you have been there, done that. Business trips are never convenient. I am glad I'm not alone and I have such great friends and family that keep in touch. Wishing you all had a blessed and happy Easter! Hugs!

February full of sickness

February flew by fast with a housefull of sick kids and parents. I started the strep-throat that passed through each child except Payton and Noah. Now, in March Payton and Noah have a cough and cold but so far clear of the strep.

We managed to fit in a short trip to New York over President's weekend to visit with Greg's folks again. This picture of the boys and our family is from that.

We came back and had a Valentine's Party with our neighborhood friends. (I don't think I have a picture for that, unfortunatley.) We played fun games inside, shared jokes, made a bird feeder craft and ate lunch together. It was a good way to get to know our neighbors better. I hope to do this again soon.

So, even though our boys didn't get Chinese New Year vacation this year, they did get lots of days off in February due to sickness, Presidents day, Primary voting day, 1/2 days and snow days. I think it all add up to 6 days off or more in Februrary!

Now its near Easter and there is not much else to add or share. Our baseketball season is just about to end with Gray's last playoff game. Owen and Noah ended with a win although they had a very tough season in basketball because their team was the youngest out of all the teams. They don't pick from a hat, so many of the coaches choose their team players and know how to stack a good team- talk about not fair!!!

Baseball season has begun with practices and only Payton and Noah are signed up for that. Gray and Owen will take a brake so they will start fresh for soccer this summer.
