17 weeks with Dr. A - Ultrasound

Today we had our appointment/ultrasound. Little did I know when I went I'd learn alot more about our babies! They were able to check for many things at this stage....like cleft lips, clubbed feet and check for all fingers and toes! It was amazing to be there and see it all! YES.....we have 10 tiny fingers and 10 tiny toes! And, NO cleft lips! She said it is extremely accurate at this point. They looked at the hearts, brains, etc and all looked great! And, she told me that both babies have 3 vessel cords. There was all great new news today! The complete previa is still there and I was able to see it clearly today. I see now why she does not 'think' it will completely move and neither placenta cover my cerivx....there is just sooo much placenta with 2 babies and not much room inside of me! There is, however, a small gap where the placentas meet that if one placenta went to the right and the other to the left, it 'could' clear my cervix. One can pray and hope. But if not, I know we are covered and will make it work out :)

She said the twins are so unique, like we did not already know that, in that it is a 50/50 toss up on which one would come out first. The are identically positioned over the cervix. So, it is really hard to label them baby A and baby B. Nonetheless, they go by a literal fraction of a mm to know which one is which AND 'baby A' is on my left and 'baby B' is on my right. Now that they are big, they are positioned on one side and then the other.

Here are the pics from today! She said that I will have my 3D the appointment after next! Next appointment is July 15 which will make the next one the very first of August when I'm near 24 weeks :)

I thank God so much for the wonderful news today! If all I have is a previa, I CAN LIVE WITH THAT :D

Ben's Swimming!

Ben started private lessons this summer where he gets an entire 30-40 minutes everyday!  Much better than 10 minutes, twice a week at the YMCA that he did for 2 years :(  Within the first day, he could floatfor a continuous 20 seconds and use his arms while swimming half way across the pool....something he did not learn/do the past 2 years!  But, I'm sure his more advanced coordination has something to do with it! LOL!

15 weeks!

Yesterday I had my second appointment at the OB's office.  As I have to remind Randy, I have two different doctors: the specialist that does the ultrasounds and then the OB.  The first time I went to the OB, a month ago, she was out of the country.  So, I meet with her nurse which is normal practice anyway.  Yesterday, I got to meet my female OB, Dr. T, for the first time.  I LOVED HER!!!!  Which is VERY important :)  Thank you again Megan!!!

Both babies had very strong heart beats :)  As I put it, the baby on my left had 168 bpm and the baby on my right had 186 bpm.  Since they were different by 18 bpm, I asked the nurse if there was any truth on the different sexes having different heart beats and she said there was no truth to that.  I agree with her.....LOL

What I mainly learned was that I do not have a "centered" complete previa.  I DO have a complete previa.  However it is not centered over my cervix.  Alot of it is up the wall with just the tail-end covering the cervix.  This was better news in that as I grow, it has a better chance of moving up :)  Also, I was happy that all that weight is not on my cervix at this time.  I actually learned more at this OB appointment about my condition than I did at the specialist on Friday :(  Sad huh?

My OB, who will be the doc delivering the twins, is very optimistic that by my 27th week I will have a marginal previa or none at all.  I definitely saw the difference in the two docs.  As the OB explained it, I was sent to the specialist to look us over with a fine tooth comb and to find anything! that there could be.  Granted there was something.....however, according to the OB, she is more optimistic and is not concerned with me at this time because she sees LOTS of these resolve on their own :)  I told her to keep thinking that way and I'll keep praying that way and we can't lose!

I had to wait for over an hour in the room for her but was glad it was not me having the issue that she was having to help with.  When she came in, it was like she had all the time in the world for my scroll of questions.  And that is the biggest quality I look for in a doc.  I found she was alot like doc Hickman (fertility).  And with me, of course, you don't get better than that! :)

I confirmed with her that other than the previa, EVERYTHING else looked good at this point.  What a blessing!!!!!!!!  I could NOT be more happy about that.  I have gained 10lbs in 4 weeks and she is not as concerned about my weight as the specialist.  She just told me to eat healthy and don't stuff my food.  That was a relief.  When examining me, she said I'm showing with my belly perfectly at this time for twins.  My uterus, much to my surprise, is above my belly button.  She said if I were just carrying one, it would still be below my belly button.  She said my size right now is equivalent to ~20 weeks of a singleton.  That was interesting to me!

Lastly, she said the babies were plump and perfect and eat alot.  She could tell that from them measuring BIGGER than their gestational week at my last specialist appointment last Friday.  Again, these ARE Randy's babies!!!!!!!!  I call them Gethro and Bodeen!  :)  And I bet I'm right :)

14 weeks at Dr. A's Office

At the appointment today, I found out that I now have complete placenta previa.  This means that both placenta are completely covering my cervix (outlet).  I am at high risk for considerable bleeding.  I was told that if this happens to me, I need a towel handy and to call the doc's office and proceed to Texas Woman's Hospital.  She said that the blood would be from me and not the babies and that I need to stay within the metropolis of Houston to be close to Women's Hospital.  She did say that she does not forsee this for me right now but that it will become more probable as the prenancy progresses IF the placentas' stay covering my cervix.  HOWEVER, I asked if there was any likelihood of them moving away from the cervix....luckily, she said YES...that it is still a 90% chance that they could move.

They do know the sex of the babies at this point.  I asked how sure are they at this point and they said 100%.  I 'think' I know what they are.....call it Mother's tuition.....call it can I really read the screen :)  Either way, boy's, girl's, I have learned to believe and trust in God and his ultimate plan for each and every one of us.  And, I prayed really hard before doing this that he would do what is in the BEST interest of all of us.....Randy, Bennie, Me and the babies involved.  I have full faith that he has done exactly that :)  I just want to get through this pregnancy with very healthy miracle babies.....after all is it really still possible this is all really happening for us?!?!?!? :)  I am very grateful!  To me, it is like opening a present at Christmastime.....you don't know what it is going to be....and you don't really care...you just know it is going to be good! :)

Randy absolutely still does not want to know my prediction.....he is still in this for the long haul for a complete surprise :)  I don't blame him.  I don't even know 100%.....

It was really neat today because you could see them as they measured the itsy bitsy leg and arm bones as well as their big bellies....these kids are definitely Randy's cuz they eat alot! :)  I can't eat enough for them to gain what I'm supposed to....let's just pray they are born with a Randy size weight!

GREAT NEWS is......other than the previa, the babies are PERFECT in everything.....all sizes are great and each weigh 4 oz.

Please, please remember these two precious, miracle babies in your prayers....we could not appreciate it enough!  In the end, the most important thing in life.....to me.....is health.  And, that is all I am praying for right now.
