I FORGOT A FEW THINGS.
WE PUT IN 3 NEW WINDOWS AND I HELPED PUT NEW FRAMES IN FOR THEM.
WE HAVE AN UNDERMOUNT SINK WHICH I LOVE IT IS GREAT.
THE CABINETS ABOVE THE FRIDGE ARE NICE AND DEEP TO HOLD MY BIG PRESSURE COOKER.
WE DID MOST OF THE WORK OURSELVES. WE DID HAVE AN ELECTRICIAN COME DO THE ELECTRICAL AND OBVIOUSLY THE CABINET GUYS AND COUNTERTOP GUYS.
WE TORE DOWN THE OLD KITCHEN, PUT UP NEW WALLS, PAINTED THE NEW WALLS AND INSTALLED OUR FLOORING. IT IS THE LOCK TOGETHER STUFF, AND SO FAR I REALLY LIKE IT.
WE GOT A GOOD SURPRISE AT THE END. BRANT WAS TEARING UP SOME CARPET IN OUR ENTRYWAY IN THE FRONT ROOM. WE WERE GOING TO DO THE SAME FLOORING THAT IS IN THE KITCHEN IN A BIT OF THE ENTRYWAY. WHILE TEARING THE CARPET UP HE SAYS HEY THIS FLOOR DOESN'T LOOK TO BAD COME SEE. SO I WENT TO LOOK AND SURE ENOUGH IT LOOKED GREAT! IT WAS OLD HARDWOOD FLOOR THAT AT ONE TIME WAS FINISHED AND COVERED WITH CARPET. SO WE ENDED UP TEARING OUT ALL OF THE CARPET IN THE FRONT ROOM AND ARE PLANNING ON REFINISHING IT SOMEDAY.
WE ALWAYS HAVE A PROJECT. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SOMETHING WE WANT TO IMPROVE OR MAKE LOOK BETTER. THAT IS WHY AM SO BLESSED TO HAVE A WORKAHOLIC AS A HUSBAND WE ARE ALWAYS GETTING THINGS DONE AND STARTING NEW PROJECTS AND EVEN AT TIMES NOT FINISHING THE ONES WE START. :)

KITCHEN REMODEL
THE JOURNEY BEGINS. THIS PROJECT TOOK US A LITTLE OVER A MONTH. I DID HAVE SOME BEFORE PICS OF THE KITCHEN BUT THEY ARE ON THAT ONE ROLL OF FILM. YEAH THAT ONE OUT OF 20 AND WHICH ONE WAS IT? SO MAYBE IN THE FUTURE YOU WILL GET TO SEE THE BEFORE PICS AND THE DEMOLITION PICS. BUT I LIKE TO DO THINGS BACK ASSWARD SO YOU DON'T GET TO SEE THEM NOW.
THIS PICTURE WAS OF OUR WALL IN THE KITCHEN BEING TORN OUT 2 YEARS AGO. IT WAS THE BEGINNING SO I PUT IT IN.
WIRING ELECTRICAL.
WE TORE DOWN THE CEILING, WHICH MADE WIRING EASIER FOR THE ELECTRICIAN. BUT BOY THAT WAS NOT TO FUN. BRANT WENT UP INTO THE ATTIC AND PUSHED INSULATION DOWN INTO A BIG GARBAGE SACK THAT HIS DAD AND I WERE HOLDING. WE WANTED TO TRY AND KEEP AS MUCH INSULATION AS WE COULD.
INSULATION.
WE GOT A GREAT DEAL ON INSULATION BEING BLOWN IN BECAUSE BRANT KNEW A GUY THAT HAS A BUISNESS DOING IT. GO FIGURE
DRYWALL, MUD AND TAPE.
I LIKE THE BOTTOM PIC IT SHOWS MY MULTI PURPOSE ROOM. KITCHEN/PIANO ROOM/ DINNING ROOM/ FRONT ROOM/ TV ROOM. NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL LIVING. I TOLD BRANT WE SHOULD OF THOUGHT OF THIS BEFORE YOU CAN DO SO MUCH AND ONLY HAVE TO TAKE A STEP.
MY FENCE I LOVE IT. THIS IS WHERE A WALL ONCE STOOD
PRIMING. HURRING TO GET THINGS DONE SO CABINETS CAN BE INSTALLED. THEY TOLD US TO PLAN ON 3 TO 4 WEEKS. WELL THEY WERE FINISHED IN 2. AND THE WHOLE TIME I AM TELLING BRANT NOT TO BE RUSHED WE HAD PLENTY OF TIME. HE ENDED UP TAKING SOME DAYS OFF WITHOUT PAY TO GET THINKGS DONE. I LOVE MY HUSBAND.
AND THE PAINT COLOR OF CHOICE IS RUM RAISIN. THANKS MICKAELA. SHE HELPED ME CHOOSE THE COLOR AND MY LIGHTING. THE PICTURE COLOR ISN'T THAT GREAT, I AM NOT GOOD AT THIS STUFF, SO IF YOU DONT LIKE IT QUIT LOOKING!

THE COUNTER TOPS GO IN
THE APPLIANCES GO IN.
THE FINISHED (MOSTLY WE STILL HAVE A BIT OF TRIM TO DO AROUND THE WINDOWS BUT YOU GET THE POINT) PRODUCT
A MOVEABLE ISLAND BY THE BACK DOOR. THE CABINET PLACE CALLED IT A FLOATING ISLAND.
SORRY THE PICS ARE FUZZY

I think: about our heavenly fathers plan for me and if I am living up to what he knows I can be.
I know: that I am very blessed and the windows of heaven countinue to pour out so many blessings apon me and my family
I want: some time to relax, not worry and be with my husband alone
I have: a great husband,a very entergetic kid, kind family, and great friends
I wish: we had less debt
I hate: a messy house but yet I don't love cleaning either. catch 22
I miss: getting to be irresponsible and carefree
I fear: Losing a loved one
I smell: laundry
I crave: sweets
I search: for knowledge
I wonder: what is next?
I regret: not having a greater sense of self worth
I love: some alone time. Not a lot but some all by myself
I care: about my family and making my husband happy
I always: garentee to have a mood swing;)
I am not: everything I know that I can be
I believe: in miracles
I dance: with my son, he's 4. My husband and I don't dance well together. Watch those feet.
I sing: dorky made up song that sometimes drives my son crazy
I don't always: have a smile on even if I am feeling fine
I write: reminders to myself and grocery lists
I lose: control and patience
I win: I won my husband
I never: want to eat rabbit again
I listen: to my heart and the spirit
I can usually be found: reading or hanging out with my son
I am scared: of snakes
I need: lots of love and affection
I am happy about: the opportunity I have to stay home with my son.

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments. I hope all of you faithful readers have some good memories of me.

PIANO RECITAL AND STITCHES AGAIN!
On Thursday May 22nd I held my third annual piano recital for my piano students. It was at my home and I felt it went very well. I had 9 students there that night. Throughout the year at one time I had 15 students which some dopped the lessons and got busy with other activities. Which is sad to me, but it happens.
That evening after the recital Brant, Isaac and I were goofing around on our bed. Well Isaac flipped off and the back of his head hit the corner of the night stand next to our bed. Brant grabbed him and said to me "get a towel." So I did and Brant was quite rushed and said we need to take him to get stitches. Well I have done this befor with Isaac so this time I was a little more calm and said "Brant its okay we don't need to rush." By then the blood had stoppped flowing and Isaac was fine.
I hadn't gotten a chance to actually see the cut so on the way out the door I was like "Brant are you sure he needs stitches? Maybe it was just a lot of blood."
So I took a look for myself and sure enough he needed stitches.
Isaac did pretty well getting stiches so as we were walking out of the hospital he says "It's all good." I had to ask him to repeat himself because I was surprised at what he said. Then in the car I was talking to Brant and saying "I think that went pretty well." and Isaac chimes in "Yeah that went pretty well." Cute kid, stitches and all. (5 stitches that is)

Marshmallow Popcorn
1/2 C Butter
1/2 C Brown Sugar
2 C Marshmallow (mini's melt faster but I have used the big ones)
2 qts Popped Popcorn (One microwave bag. If it is buttered popcorn I cut down my butter in the recipe to 1/4 C)
Melt butter, brown sugar and marshmallows in a microwavable bowl for 1 min. Stir. Heat again in microwave for 1 min. Stir well and pour over popped popcorn. Mix well.
This tastes like soft caramel popcorn to me and I love it.

The Never Ending Project
Okay not really but It seemed like it. I had this great idea of repainting my room in a golden rustic look. So here how it all went.

1st I scrapped loose paint from walls. Why? because I am dumb and painted over oil base paint with latex paint. I did use a latex primer but later learned that it should of been a oil based primer to switch from oil paint to latex paint. Well you live you learn.
2nd I took some joint compound and textured the walls with a trowel.
3rd I primed this time with oil based primer, and let me tell you I learned why it is not used much any more. My husband and I both got a little loopy. We felt young again. okay maybe a little but most of all I just felt like I could puck. It wasnt fun. My brain was telling me "oxygen must have oxygen." :)

4th painted a base coat of bright yellow.
5th glazed the walls with a burnt sienna and maize (mustard yellow)

Food Fun!
I have been hooked on some cooking blogs and thought I do a little myself.

This is the classic beef pot roast with carrots and peas, mashed potatoes and gravy, and a baking powder biscuit.

Stuffed crust pizza. You just take string cheese and put around the perimeter of the pizza and fold the crust over. I do this before I put on the toppings. YUMMY!

Isaac loved the Marshmallow popcorn so much I didn't have time to get a pic. But it is sure good It tastes like a sticky carmel popcorn and is super easy to make. It consists of marshmallows, butter, brown sugar, and vanilla. Melt it and pour over popped pop corn.

These are the rules: You must post the rules before you give your answers. You must list one fact about yourself for each letter of your middle name. Each fact must begin with that letter. If you don't have a middle name, just use your maiden name. After you've been tagged, you need to update your blog with your middle name and answers. At the end of your post, you need to tag one person for each letter of your middle name. Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and need to read your blog for details.

At Home
So since Brant and I have been home together we decided to finish some incomlete projects we have. Oh by the way Brant is feeling well and is out and about so he can help me. But if he stays up to long his knee with swell and ache so he just has to take it easy.
Anyway back to the projects. I have been working on adding some texture to the walls in our front room. I just took joint compound and started spreading it on the walls with a big scaper. I wanted it to look like plastered walls with med amount of texture. Then I have two ideas for paint (1) golden yellow base color and rusty red wash (glaze) over the yellow. or (2) tight tan base color and dark brown wash (glaze) over the tan. So I realy wanted to do the yellow but we have thought about moving and selling our house (we never planned on staying here the rest of our lives, we want more propery). If we do decide to sell I thought that the tan would probably be a better selling color then the yellow.:)
Then we repainted our bathroom wich had some patched holes because we added another outlet and lights above the mirror. The new color is a tuqoise and it matches my shower curtain better than the old color. Brant has also been working on some trim up stairs, so we have plenty to keep us busy.
I have been taking pictures of the work I have been up to. So when my antique camera has run out of film I will try and get it developed and post the pics on here.

Isaac Again

I was just playin around with the photos and thought this would be cute. And I'm sure some of you are thinking Isaac reverent? Ha!!
Well I do have a couple of cute stories to tell about Isaac in primary.
I was subing for the pianist in primary and while I was playing I looked up to see Isaac had his tie wrapped around his head. So I gave him a funny look and pointed to his head as if asking why? He looked and me and said "I like it this way."
Then on another occation I heard this story from a lady in primary.
Isaac was of course not realy listening during a talk. Well the talk that was being given had something to do with a candy bar, that word was repeated several times. So each time the speaker said "candy bar" Isaac perked right up and would look at his friend with wide eyes and say "A CANDY BAR!" I'm sure it wasnt very quite either.

Butcher

Hey! So I haven't posted for awhile and I have no cool new pics. SORRY! I'm boring. So over the easter weekend I did not get to go home for the easter egg hunt instead the fam and I stayed home and slaughtered a cow. It was given to us by a friend of brants that is a dairy man. The cow had broke her hip so Brant went and did the dirty work on the dairy and quartered the cow and brought it home, with the help of his Dad. He was so exshausted when he got home it took them about 4 to 5 hours. He was excited when he told me about the cow but then when he got home from the dirty work he said "I'm not doing that again." I couldn't help but laugh.
Then Isaac had to tell everyone that came to our home that there was a cow in our garage.
So butchering took place on friday night and then into saturday. So all in all about a total of hours of butchering. That was with the help of Brants Mom, Dad, brother, sister, and myself. But it is well worth the food supply that hopefully will last us close to a year. The lord surely does bless us, free cow and we did the butchering ourself so I think we came out ahead.
FYI Brants Grandfather and Father use to run a meat market back in the day. His grandfather has passed away but his Dad still seems to know what he is doing. Brant has many fond memories of spending time with his grandfather unfortunatly I never did get to meet him.
Isaac was bummed that we were not going to g-mas for the easter egg hunt so he got to go to the Preston easter egg hunt with my friend Kelli and also they dyed eggs together. What a great friend I have to hang with my kid.:)

Our 5th Anniversary
Not quiet yet but we celebrated early. We stayed a night at the Old Trappers Inn in Logan and had a cute room with a California King bed and big screen TV. That night we went to eat at Blackstone wich is a fairly new resturaunt in Logan. It was good. Then watched a movie on the big screen. Then the next day we went to breakfast and did some bumming around town. All along Isaac was at Aunt Nan's for a sleepover which he loved and didn't want to come home the next day. It's nice to leave him and know he had a great time as did we.
Saturday me and Isaac are home cleaning and Brant is out hunting rabbits with friends. Last night we put together a 3 point sling for his SKS gun. It went pretty well and I'm excited to hear how it worked.
Love ya,
Katie and Fam
