The first post back after a 5 month hiatus is quite intimidating. Maybe that is why I haven't written one yet. I haven't stopped posting for lack of worthy material, that's for sure. So here is an update on our lives since ALASKA!
While Brandon was on his trip we had received word that his dad was beginning radiation for Prostate Cancer. We were having a heck of a time getting any accurate information out of his parents and didn't really know the seriousness of the situation. So, when Brandon got home from his trip we decided to head over to Idaho and see what was going on.
When we got here a couple of things happened. First, it was determined that Brandon's dad's cancer was fairly serious and advanced (since the radiation, things have improved). Second, we realized how much we missed the wide open spaces. And third, we decided to move back!
Just like that, we made a decision that Brandon would quit his job, that we would move to Idaho and help Brandon's dad with his land and animals, and that the rest would fall into place for us (it always has.)
After a week or so in Idaho, we headed back to California, we packed up what we could and sold whatever wouldn't fit in our cars. This meant we sold a lot. Including our bed, couches, table etc. We said goodbye to our tiny apartment and the beautiful weather of California and headed home to Idaho.
For about the first two months we worked around Brandon's parents property, taking care of things that had fallen behind. We weed whacked, mowed, fed animals, dug holes, and did a whole lot of stuff. Brandon worked full time around the property. And we got things back in order for the most part. All the while Brandon applied for some jobs and I got a job to make sure we were insured and had some money coming in.
During this time, we decided that Brandon ultimately did not want another job. He wanted to work for himself and own his OWN company. This had always been his dream, and this seemed like the perfect time to start (seeing as he was unemployed) So like everything else we do, we jumped in with both feet- we got to work researching and finding Brandon the equipment he needed. He is now working hard to build his business and has never been happier.
Where we are now: right now we are both working towards hopefully buying or building a home soon. We are expecting another BOY in June and we are glad to be where we are. We have always been so blessed when we make decisions together and exercise our faith.
I often joke that I miss California and Disneyland. Which I definitely do. But realistically, living in California wasn't what our family needed in order to obtain our long term goals. Two such goals were, 1. Brandon working for himself and 2. Owning our own home. Doing these things in California were just not going to happen for a long time. So we decided to make a change.
I hope to be able to update this blog more often. However I am working full time! I have a lot less time to sit at the computer- which really is a shame. But I will do my best to update. We hope that all is well with you and your families. We are excited for a new year, a new baby and a new life in Idaho.
