I'm a big girl now!

With a little pushing from Austin, he convinced me that we should try sleeping Ava in a toddler bed. I was hesitant as I didn't want to deal with a overtired child and thought she was a little young still.(she just turned 18 months yesterday.) So we took off the front of her crib making it a toddler bed and put her to sleep on it. She did great till she fell off in the middle of the night (this was on Thursday), I guess it was good that I put couch cushions down! So with that we decided we would buy her a toddler bed that actually had guard rails on it and try that out.

Yesterday we went and bought a toddler bed and made a big deal about it to Ava, telling her about her big girl bed and getting all excited about it after we set it up.

Friday night after bedtime routine she walked right over to her bed with her sippy cup and climbed right in! She did not get out once! We are so proud of her she did great. Saturday night was good also, not one little foot tip toeing around! Can't believe the transition has been this easy so far. Good job Ava, we love you!

(We're still working on naps, they're not as easy when your room isn't as dark.)

Fun weekend full of injuries

This weekend we had so much fun. It was my father-in-law's birthday so we went to Corona to celebrate. Ashley and her girls and Angie came all the way down from Utah, it was so fun to see them!

The day before we went Ava fell into the ottoman right on the corner. Of course hitting her eye. Giving her her second black eye in time for the party! This one was much worse than the first but by the time I got the camera out to take a picture it didn't look that bad anymore so I just passed, sorry no picture.

Ava has so much fun playing with her cousins, sometimes too much fun. They were playing on the stairs and Ava some how smacked her mouth on the stairs. She wasn't even crying but then someone noticed she had blood running down her face, quite a bit of blood! This kid only started to cry when we went to pick her up and she couldn't play on the stairs anymore.

We were trying to figure out where the blood was coming from but she wouldn't let us look in her mouth, finally we able to see that she had tore her frontal labial frenum (the little string thingy holding your top lip to your gums)

Ava's is attached really low which is one of the reasons she has a big gap between her front teeth.

When I saw it completely tore I started to freak out a little bit, till Austin looked online and read that there isn't much the doctor can do and that it should heal by itself in a couple days. Later in life she would have had to probably have surgery on her frontal labial frenum because it is so low, so maybe Ava just saved us some money by doing it herself!

This little girl is so crazy, I know this is just the beginning of her injury list, luckily she is a really though kid, hopefully I can make it through all her injuries!
