Happy Birthday Scott!!!

Monday, 1/26, was Scott's birthday. I decided it should be celebrated big so here was our day in pictures:

I surprised Scott with birthday pancakes. Then we decided to go bowling just for the fun of it! There were a hilarious amount of "older" people there that were putting our bowling scores to shame.

Then we were off to the movies. Scott wanted to see Valkyrie - which wasn't terrible - but a bit predictable. After the movie I had planned for us to have a picnic at Zilker park, but instead we had to picnic in the back of my car due to the nasty drizzling cold weather.

After the picnic I had to go to class for 3 hours. Then Scott picked me up from school and we went to eat at Boca di Beppo's which is a yummy, family style Italian restaurant. I arranged for Dathan and Marie, Scott's friends, to surprise Scott and join us for dinner. We got to sit at the table in the kitchen which is really fun. They show you all the food and tell you how it is made and you get to watch the chefs at work.

I love the knife stabbed in the slice of cake. Makes me think it should belong in a scene from The Godfather.

After dinner, which included the wait staff serenading Scott with a candelabra, accordion, and singing we all went back to Scott's house for cake and presents. I made him a strawberry cake which resembled a flaming pink rock once covered in ## candles!

School days, school days, dear old golden rule days...

School started today with quite a bang. This semester, hopefully my last of coursework, finds me working 30 hours as I supervise 29 student teachers which will be quite an adventure. I am also taking 2 classes, doing 2 research projects, and preparing for my qualifying exams. My exams are at the end of February and judging from my fellow students reactions of "good lucks" and "ew, tell me how they go" I am a little nervous. So, here we go...the count down is already on till the February 20th weekend when my exams are scheduled!!!

Nancy Kerrigan I am not!

Scott and I went ice skating last night and it was quite the adventure. To my recollection I have never ice skated and I haven't been on roller skates in at least 10 years...so like I said it was very adventurous. I am proud to say that I did not fall down, but I was far from graceful as I had to balance check with every glide. Needless to say, it was very fun. The rink was built outside on top of the Whole Foods Market in downtown Austin. It was a beautiful, windy Austin day. Scott was quite adept on his skates, but was kind enough to coax me along and hold my hand as my feet slipped out from underneath me. Guess I won't be trying out for the winter olympics any time in the near future!

New Years Eve 2008

Scott was sweet enough to drive all the way down to Baytown after work to ring in the New Year with my family and me. Poor thing then had to turn right back around and head back to Austin by 10am New Year's Day to get to work on time. What a good man!

Wii Fun!

My parents gave me a Wii for Christmas and we had a blast playing with it. Boxing was the game of choice which is quite entertaining to watch.

Let the Gluttony Begin!

Christmas in the Hanna household is always a bit much. We so enjoying giving gifts to each other that with each passing year the mound of presents seems to grow exponentially. Every Christmas morning follows a similar pattern. We all wake-up and the kids come downstairs to see what Santa brought them. Then we check out our stockings which Santa stocks quite generously with Starbucks and I-tunes gift cards!!! THANK YOU SANTA!

Next follows a yummy breakfast and then we return to the living room to open the rest of the presents we give to each other. We are far too spoiled!

Callie was given a Barbie Jeep by my parents this Christmas. She and Jack (on his tractor) spent about an hour Christmas morning racing around the yard and neighbor's driveway.
