noah turns three
Noah wanted an R2D2 cake for his 3rd birthday. My mom always made us amazing cakes so I am working on following in her footsteps. I was pretty ambitious and probably won't do something this involved every year but occasionally it is fun to try. It was more work than I initially thought but luckily I had help from a friend who does wedding cakes. It certainly isn't "Ace of Cakes" perfect but it turned out good enough for us. R2D2 got a little hot and couldn't handle the weight of the fondant; he has wrinkle bum.
Cake=
homemade fondant
6 layers of round cake
wooden dowels down center
cardboard reinforcement every 2 layers
butter cream frosting
silver icing spray
cut out fondant designs dyed blue
styrofoam arms covered in fondant
A LOT OF TLC and TIME

2009 Summer in Review
June: Noah's second birthday, settling into the new house, getting ready for baby.
July: Miles was born, Travis's parents got home, a lot of family activities (reunions, baby blessing, etc.) Very fun, very tiring- running on virtually no sleep.
August: My Birthday (a great day), time with Travis's sister and the nieces and nephew, time in St. George with great g-ma and g-pa Parker and cousins, boating, and getting out more with two kids.
September: BYU- OK game in Dallas, and taking advantage of the last few weeks of warm weather. The leaves start to change and it is beautiful here.

The birth went really well and we are home getting use to life as a family of four. Noah has been really cute with Miles and he seems to be embracing his role as a big brother. No major meltdowns yet! Miles looked a lot like Noah when he was born and you can tell they are brothers but he definitely has his own look now.

On the move...
After our FANTASTIC trip to CA (back in March) we came home and started our long to-do list of things we wanted/needed done before we moved into our new house. Finally at the end of April we packed up the house we had been living in for 3 years and on May 2nd headed out for our new adventure in a new place. Moving is so much work, especially when you are 7 months pregnant, BUT it all went smoothly. Thankfully we had many great friends and family to help us with the move and make it easier. Not only did we have a lot of people help load the UHAUL but neighbors in our new area came and helped unload. VERY APPRECIATED and SO NICE of everyone!
After being in our home for a little over a month we would both agree that while we now spend every Saturday doing yard work it has been fun to be in our own place. We love it. We love the neighborhood and the neighbors have been great.
We moved
A week later my grandpa (dad's dad) passed away.
A week later my brother and sister-in-law graduated from college and we had the funeral service for grandpa the Monday after the graduation. Humm... was that it?
My due date is just around the corner. July 1st. 3 more weeks. Am I ready? Are WE ready? I have grown quite accustomed to my belly (but not to getting up 3 times a night to use the bathroom). I feel like there is still so much to do before he arrives.
A couple of random pictures taken at Grandma and Grandpa Hall's while there for the graduation.

We are off to see...

The WBC - World Baseball Classic!
The semifinals and finals are in LA next week.
We are excited to have a getaway, just the two of us, in celebration of our 5 yr. anniversary (coming up) and before the new baby arrives.
We hope the U.S. is in it until the end so we can root, root, root for the home team!

Farewell Domino
What is a girl to do? I subscribe to Domino Magazine and I love it. I look forward to looking at the interior design ideas and putting together a portfolio of how I would want to decorate my house someday. Well, a couple of days ago as I was browsing interior design blogs and I came across the surprising news- the magazine is folding, done, no more. Apparently the March issue is the last issue I will ever get! WHAT?! I just received my March issue and nothing about this was anywhere in print. After looking through many blogs that lamented this fact, some even petitioning to keep the magazine or at least the website going, I checked out their official website at www.dominomag.com. It is all true, no more Domino. They say that in this tough economic time they can't get the advertising support they need to continue. I know I am not the only one who thinks this stinks. NOW WHAT? Where am I supposed to draw inspiration from? I need all the creative help I can get. Are there any other cool, modern magazines that are eclectic, creative, and so much fun to look through? One blog I read had some ideas for other good design magazines but now I can't find the blog. I'll have to do some searching. If you have a favorite home decorating magazine that you like please let me know what it is. I'll check it out. I need to fill this void soon. :) Farewell Domino.
