9th Month

Juliette, you're 9 months old.  Wow.  Where did the time go?  Sweet little darlin', you are sooo much fun these days.  You crawl, have stood for a few seconds at a time, LOVE table foods, can clap, and you have 2 teeth.  You are content with momma, have been giving dad a lot more affection, and can drive cars complete with sounds.  You are so very observant and getting a little more picky as the days go by.  You like hard toys, momma's keys, sunglasses, to "honk" noses, even your baby's nose, and anything your brother is doing.  You are absolutely adorable and we can't get enough of you.

Pharm Alumni Game

During finals week, we took the opportunity to go to the Pharmacy and Health Professions Alumni game.  They do a dinner for the Alumni and families and then you get bused over to see the game.  We watched Creighton vs. UNO--again.  It is a fun family outing.  They have fun things for the kids as well.  This year they had a really good face painter and a balloon guy.  Dex just wanted a balloon.  Billy the Blue Jay is also there for photo opps.

Juliette loves tomatoes.  I kept feeding her pieces but I guess I was to slow.  She stole this off my plate.  It was funny to watch her eat it.  She did pretty well, too.  Also, notice her hair bow pulled down, around her neck...It's hard to keep them on her these days.

Dex didn't like the real Billy the Blue Jay, so we saw this cardboard one and decided he could get his picture taken with it.

This years was a lot cooler than last years game.  I was thankful for that.  It was darn hot last year and probably didn't help that I was prego.  The next time we attend this, we'll be graduating.  Wow.  

Baker's Man

Last Sunday, Dexter helped us do dinner.  He helped me roll up crescent rolls once before and this time, he wanted to do it by himself.  I separated them out for him and he rolled them up.  He was pretty darn proud and they were pretty darn yummy.

I couldn't decide which picture to post so you got them all.  He is his funny self in all of them.  Enjoy!

Fire Station

We were able to take a tour of the fire station a couple weeks ago with some friends from church.  Dex enjoyed  it and was excited and nervous about it the whole morning before we left.  Another mom organized it and we got to join in.  He wouldn't sit inside the trucks or walk even walk through them.  He did look at the heat camera they use to find people inside homes to help rescue.  When we came home, he was full of regret for not sitting in the trucks and making them beep.  Life lessons.  But he still enjoyed it immensely.

While we were there, the crew that was supposed to give us a tour got called out.  We did get to see them leave, which was pretty exciting for the wee ones.  Another crew came in just as the others were leaving so we still got our tour.  We got to go upstairs to see where they slept, cooked, had class/relaxed and touch the hoses and see through their heat sensing camera.  At the end, about 5 firemen slide down the poles for the kids to watch and then the kids got a turn if they wanted.  Dex didn't.  It turned out to be another regret.  Darn those life lessons!  Afterward, they passed out some cute hats and coloring books for all the kiddos to have. Dex was pretty darn excited about those.

Sleep, Sleep

Juliette's sleep positions are a lot like mine.  On the side but with hips rotated, on the tummy, arms up...I peek in on her and think, hmmm, I like to sleep like that too.  

She does have her own quirks though.  For instance, She hates to have the bumper pad up.  I might as well just take it off.  She likes it down and if I pull it up, she pats it down until it stays down before she'll fall asleep.  

She also likes to sleep with things poking out of the bars.  Toes, hands, one time her whole leg, and another her whole arm.  Silly girl.  I fixed her once and put her arm back in and she got mad and stuck it through again.

Playing in the Rain

 I try to get us to go outside to play at least once a day.  It is so very important to me, to let Dex run and be outside learning, seeing, and exploring.  I love our little spot and the grassy area that we have around us.  It is pretty perfect for where we are at in our lives.  

We try to get outside, regardless of the weather. I read a quote somewhere that said "There is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate attire."  Don't get me wrong, I do think that it can get too hot/cold/miserable to be outside, but this day, however, was not miserable.  It was mid March and we were having a nice warm rain shower.

 

It's Turkey Time!

DeeAnn came down for about a week to come play with us.  It was so nice having another adult around and extra hands to help with the kids.  We had fun.  We went and saw the new aquarium at the zoo for the first time and we also took a jaunt to Kansas City to the temple open house there.    I was so excited to take Dexter through the temple.  Every time he plays with his blocks, he builds a temple.  I couldn't wait to show him what the inside looked like.

Well, about 5-10 minutes before we got there, he fell asleep.  It isn't a good idea to wake either of my kids up early from a nap because they are GRUMPY!  He seemed to do alright at first until we were at the entrance of the temple and put the white booties on our shoes to protect the floor inside.  He would not walk in them and threw a fit when we tried to put him down.  He cried so hard that I almost had to take him out.  I finally got him calmed down and we were able to finish the tour.

Inside was gorgeous as always. It had an olive tree theme throughout it.  I love the color of the stone they used on the outside.  It is so pretty.  A sandy off white color.  It was awesome having both of my kids in the celestial room with me.  I only wish Ashton could have come.  It would have been awesome to have all of us there.

After the tour, we enjoyed their snickerdoodles and skittles punch (much to sweet for me).

On our way home, Dexter was talking and said, "It's TURKEY TIME!  Time to go eat turkey at the temple ---with Lainey" (a friend in nursery).  Where that came from, I don't know, but it was hilarious.

*editors note:  I have recently found out that when Dexter says "turkey" and "cookie" they sound exactly the same.  Therefore, I now believe he was saying "It's cookie time".  Maybe we'll just stick with Turkey?
