All The Gold And The Guns In The World Couldn't Get You Off

Howdy folks. Slowly getting back in the saddle on this blogging thang. Still sucking at reading other peoples as well as posting on my own. Work is work. Got to do some Overtime the last two weeks. Fucked on that by illness and snow. Got to do some OT last weekend. Not that it helped, it merely covered the loses suffered due to kidlet's (typically) complicated wisdom tooth extraction.

Gabe, as many of you know, has decided that he was tired of being called broke ass pussy and jumped onto the emergency (read - expensive) vet train. He has surgery tomorrow. On his wang. Poor little bugger =(

Let's see what else. Um..........Oh! Mom made pot stickers last week. They were so good I am still fixated on them. I might have to revised my birthday dinner menu to ask for potstickers and roast beef. And that is not a weird combo, it is eclectic.

I just shot coffee out my nose, at work, laughing my ass off. Co workers think I am nuts. So pretty much all is as usual around here.

STILL have not seen Avatar. Still pissed about that. Maybe this weekend with the kid. We shall see.

Blogfest! Looking like I will be nailing the date down to July 24th - Aug 4th due to my department moving to a new office building. Grumble grumble. I am hoping the new huge windows by my desk will make up for the new huge commute I am gonna be getting out of this move.

Lastly but never ever leastly, new music! LOVE Gold, Guns and Girls by Metric. Make that FLOVE.

You're A Bum, You're A Punk, You're An Old Slut On Junk

So I totally got sucked into watching P.S. I Love You. Hilary Swank annoys me but Harry Dean Morgan, Harry Connick Jr and, Gerard -Hello Nurse- are three of my favorite actors. And I love Lisa Kudro and Gina Gershon. And the whole premise of the movie is every girl needs a hot Irish guy. I see no point in arguing that.Hilary Swanks character is a likeable enough but Gerard Butler's character Gerry is amazing and right on up there with some of the all time greats.

The movie is a total chick flick. Dead husband leaves letters and instructions for the year following his death. TOTAL CHICK FLICK. And I bawled like a baby through the whole fucking thing. Got a red nose and stuffy head and I feel slightly riduclous. But any film with a Fairytales of New York being played at a wake...yeah color me gone. I defy anyone get through that. And Steve Earle's The Galway Girl...Desert as a fellow Ireland lover you gotta watch this. And Flogging Molly...see I like more than just U2 ;) I want to read the book now.

Anyhow small child returns home tomorrow and I am heading over the parentals to get her. I am pretty pooped tonight. Too many meetings on top of the auction work. But so far things are running very smoothly. Cross your fingers I win me a get away prize. Like the Bonneville Spa and Hotsprings package. Oh yeah!

Just a fast one for the weekend and I leave you with Shane and Steve and Dave -

One Perfect Partner One Eternal Kiss

Yeah I am ridiculously hooked on this song. I have heard a lot of smack talk from folks like Brandon Flowers of the SHITEOUS band The Killers about who could and should be "the next U2." First off, they ain't done, Brandon. Secondly...it ain't gonna be you tools. Are we human or are we dancers...that is the suck, Brandon.

Now Snow Patrol, I think has potential. I went so far as to call it (keeping in tune with this political season ya know) for Snow Patrol, officially. Told Kidlet I wanted it on record :P

The Cobra Starship concert was fun. The three (!!!!!) opening bands were seven shades of the suck, but CS kicked some ass. Seriously how many second rate Fall Out Boy bands do we need to assuage Pete Wentz's short man syndrome?

The girls had a blast, Kidlet being Kidlet and a hardened concert goer shoved her way up front and dragged Jordyn along for the ride. I hung out up in the balconey to save my knee. And it actually feels better today. Crossing fingers it stays that way!

And now, off to slaughter trees.

I Don't Know Why Sometimes I Feel Frightened

Watching Dancing with the Stars. They just announced the musical guest this week will be The Jonas Brothers and Jesse McCartney. That was so kind of them to give me warning. I'd rather stick pencils in my ears than endure that. And HOLY SHIT. The singers on this show suck hard. Really really hard.

I admit, I am shamelessly voting for Lance Bass. He was the weakest of the N'SYNC boys but come the fuck on. Boy band and gay? He better bring it. The Fat One did pretty good but let's face it, JC Chavez and The Timbersnake were the best of them and I highly doubt Justin will be doing DWTS any time soon. Which is probably a good thing since even if the boy had two left feet - which he doesn't - the little girlies -and horny old broads - would vote for him till the cows come home.

Ready for this? Topic Change! The nominees have been announced for the Rock Hall of Fame and those motherfuckers better put Iggy and The Stooges in the Hall or I will riot. And kidlet will help.

Ok, Lance is bringin it.

As I was saying, I am fine with Metallica although I still think Lars needs to have his pubes yanked out with pliers. I am fine with Run DMC, hell I named a cat after the song It's Tricky. But by God, Iggy and the Boys best be in that class. It's fucking ridiculous that they are not already. And according to the poll on MSNBC a good portion of Americans needs their pubes yanked as well.

And now I am going to go clean up my kitchen cause I made my Giada Pasta and had that and a Tanq and Tonic. I am leaving you with a video of today's -well tomorrows - post title. If the voice sounds familiar that cause it is. I give you The Crowded House boys in their earlier incarnation Split Enz and I Got You

And After All We're Only Ordinary Men

I am so tired. So very very tired. Had about 5 hours sleep Sunday night and all of about 3 hours last night. Plus kidlet kicked me. In a certain area that would prefer NOT to be kicked. I may be kinky but I have my limits.

Ya know I have a set of pictures Kidlet took that I love but by God I am too tired to upload a frickin photo. Kidlet is back at her dad's tonight and I get to spend that fun am period waiting for the call from the school. My head is down to a dull roar. I am watching House if I have to toothpick my eyeballs open. Missed Weeds last night but I am waiting till I get Kidlet back. I have a feeling I know where this season is heading.

Dexter in less than 2 weeks! And Jimmy Smits is joining the cast =)

Alrighty folks, that is as good as I get today. I leave you with a wee song in honor of Richard Wright of Pink Floyd who died of Cancer yesterday.

Every Where There Are Familiar Faces

Just a quickie today as I was off yesterday for vampire blood draws and doctor appointments and we all know I am WAY FRICKIN BEHIND at work.

Watched the DNC last night. Michelle Obama has more balls than her husband. I think she has more brains as well.

Another nugget I have gleaned is that Hilary supporters who are now voting for McCain with absolutely not a SINGLE thought towards Supreme Court appointments are moronic douchebags with less credibility than Phyllis Schlafly. Voting for someone JUST because they are a women goes a long way to explaining why we still make 70 some odd cents to the dollar compared to men. It also explains why most women drivers suck ass. And I bet they are shit lays.

Women :P

On that note, this has been stuck in my brain. Lovely lovely song and Gary does it so much better than Tears for Fears. Sorry Roland.

Must. Watch. Donnie. Darko.

Here Comes The Sun

Hey all checking in. Worked for a bit yesterday and then did some errands for mom and stopped in to see Gramps. Kidlet and I are going back this afternoon. So far Gramps is looking comfortable which is the main thing now. Hallucinating somewhat due to the meds but resting comfortably.

Thanks for all the kind words. I have such a lovely collection of readers out there. Kidlet is taking it pretty hard. If you look at our ages I suppose it is fairly rare for someone who is 13 to have had a close relationship with a great grandparent and at 39 I think I have to be one of the few folks out there with a grandparent still alive. It's that Mediterranean diet people. Go buy olive oil right now.

It is supposed to be sunny and 60 today and I am going to try to take kidlet on a drive. We both need some fresh air and a wee get out of the house after the looong strep throat and cold crap. I still cough a bit. How is that for the suck? Anyhow we need a brief drive with some good music and a nice cold coke. Then she can spend tomorrow cleaning her room!

16 Candles Down The Drain

Yawn. Stretch.

Back at work. Seems like I was just here? That would be because I have done 12 hour days both Sat and Sun. So really, I *was* just here. Bleh

Got home in time to watch The Alternative on VH1 Classic and man was it a good night. The Creatures, Social D, The The, Sugar, Talk Talk, The Cure, REM, and of course Sponge for whom I owe thanks for today's title.

It also looks like the rumors are true and the Police will reunite and tour. That will be a show worth seeing. If I am lucky they will stick to early Police and not cram the entire Synchronicity album down my throat. Not saying it is a bad album, just that I had it crammed down my throat enough in 1983.

Taking kidlet to Target today on my lunch hour to get her storage bins for her room. At her dad's house. Cause while it is a known fact that he could do this for her, with him it's the will that always fall short.

6 more years, Lord, 6 more years. Then I can kiss this state and the ex goodbye. Figuratively speaking cause I'd rather cut my lips off than kiss the ex or this state:P

Alrighty off to get oatmeal and coffee.
