Transformation Tuesday: Winter Flower Pots

The countdown to spring is on! 

We've finally seen some warm days and the snow is melting and I can now see my front yard again. And its a bit dull.

 I spent about 10 minutes to liven it up and didn't spend a dime. 

 Our local eclectic company trimmed some trees by our home this past week and left the trimmings next to the trees. 

 I grabbed the handsaw and chopped up the branches so they would fit in my pots that we're feeling so very sad. 

Gives our dirt driveway a little green in the mist of all of the dry grass, mud and bland yard appearance this time of year. 

 There was enough clippings from the branches that I was able to fill the pot on the front porch as well to change up the winter décor.

Transformation Tuesday... Side Table

Happy Tuesday you all! 

Its been awhile since Ive shared a Transformation Tuesday project. This is a new piece. This side table has beautiful curves and structurally sound. Just needed some love.

Before... 

This piece was simple yet nothing really popped. 

 

 After... 

I love the definition between the two colors and I feel like the curves of the piece are much more evident.

Transformation Tuesday - Bench

 

Happy Tuesday! 

Its been awhile since Ive shared a #TransformationTuesday project. This bench I bought from a friend. It had great bones and the top opens and closes well but needed a little life given back to it. 

 

I painted the entire bench in duck blue chalk paint, then wet brushed country grey all over it. Once dried I sanded in the places that I wanted to feel a bit more weathered and clear waxed the entire piece. 

 

Here are a few other Christmas projects Ive been working on. Isnt the tool bench super cute!?

My little wood chair {Transformation Tuesday}

This little chair was passed on to me. 

Instantly I loved it because its old and was falling apart.

I first fixed all of the boards that we're uneven and no longer functioning right.

I then painted, sanded and waxed.

And now, I love it even more!

Transformation Tuesday: Coffee Table

 Happy Tuesday Friends! 
Last week I started bring life back to this coffee table. I picked it up from a friend who was moving this past fall and have had it in the garage since. 

As I started I gave it a huge cleaning with a gentle all purpose cleaner that I use on all of my projects to get the dirt and grime off of it. 

I debated often about what I wanted it to look like when finished. I used Annie Sloan Cocoa on the entire piece. Then stenciled the top with a stencil that I made using my Silhouette. Clear wax on the entire piece when done and the top was finished with dark wax and a new technique that I had never done. 

Take a look at all of my steps below...

 This table had corner protectors on it. And they we're stuck on! It took some prying and some sanding to get the protectors and all of that glue off.

 

 

I love how the table turned out. It has the cutest little drawer for remotes or things that you want to keep hidden away.

 I added a basket below to store some of our favorite magazines.

 I wanted this piece to have a perfect blend of old and new. With the feel of a warn sign on the top...

 ... and new, fresh, clean paint and hardware.

Old Headboard = New Bench

 I picked up this old headboard from a friend last week. Midway through construction I grabbed the camera and took a few pictures.

 I filled the holes on the headboard with wood putty.

 And used 18 inch spindles for the front legs.

 I love the look of chipped paint. In order to achieve this look I stained, put on a white coat of paint and topped it off with a grey paint of coat. And then did my distressing.

 For the seat I used old wood, sanded like crazzzzy and cut to fit the size I needed. 

I love how this beauty turned out!

O My, Walt

 Happy Tuesday! 

My most recent project is this guy. I've named him Walt for a very specific reason. I purchased Walt at an auction. He's in good condition but had cosmetic issues. Stain was uneven and rough AND I'm only assuming naughty school aged kids had carved their names into him. The deepest carving was the name Walt. I hope he got detention for doing this! :)

 After some major sanding sessions, dry brushing white paint on and then staining over him. He is now complete.

 I'm a fan of the colors and tones that come through with this technique. There's even a small chalkboard in place of all of the names that we're carved into the desk.
