U-T Watchdog compiled a database of public records requests across the region to mark Sunshine Week, a national effort to raise awareness of open government issues.
The Watchdog asked 107 agencies for their log of records requests, from January 2015 to the present. All but 10 have complied. The result is a database of 11,166 requests for everything from unpaid parking citations at UC San Diego to sprinkler plans at the City of Poway and dam inspections at the Rainbow Water District.
You can search the requests by agency, by requester and by item requested:
“Unknown” indicates that the agency provided information in a particular field, but that specific entry was left blank, redacted or indeterminable through emails. A “not provided” indicates the agency did not provide any information for that particular date category. Some blanks were created because the U-T redacted people’s phone numbers and email addresses.
Some agencies provided partial information. For example, the City of Del Mar was only able to provide requests made early this year because of a server failure. Fallbrook Union High School District did not keep a log and was only able to search emails from the last 180 days.

San Dieguito Water District is not included in the database since it has not received any requests since January 2015, according to the Encinitas City Clerk who handles all requests for the district.
Ten public entities have yet to comply with U-T Watchdog’s request for their public records request log after almost a month: Tri-City Health Care District, San Diego Airport Authority, San Ysidro School District, Dehesa School District, Lakeside Union School District, Oceanside Unified School District, San Diego Unified School District, Warner Unified School District, San Marcos School District and Vista Unified School District.
